Transfer Funds Between Accounts
To transfer money from a bank or broker account to another, without impacting the Capital Gains or Performance Reporting metrics, use the 'transfer funds' button that is available on the 'Accounts' page.
You can access the Portfolio Accounts using the Portfolio navigation as illustrated in the following screen shot.
Typically when you transfer funds for example from a bank account to trading account, the date that the funds are transferred and then received are different. By using the 'transfer funds' button, the overall asset value for performance reporting will not be impacted during the period that the funds are in transit. Please note that the 'transfer funds' button will only be visible when you have set up more than one account.
You transfer funds between accounts by clicking on the 'transfer funds' button on the Accounts page as shown:
After you press the 'transfer funds' button you will be presented with the following screen:
In this example we are going to transfer £5,000 from the Barclays Bank Account to the Hargreaves UK Broker Account. The money is transferred from the Bank Account on the 30th of June 2009 and received into the Broker Account on the 14th of July 2008. The amount transferred is equal to the amount received.
To enter this transaction, firstly enter the amount being transferred into the 'transfer' text box, which is 5000 (pounds). Please note that if the amount being received is equal to the amount being transferred, then you can leave the 'receive' text box empty. Now select the Portfolio Account that you would like to transfer money from and send money to. In this example we have used the drop down menus to change the transfer Portfolio Account to 'Bank Account' and the receiving Portfolio Account to 'UK Broker Account' i.e. we are going to transfer money from the Bank Account to the UK Broker Account. Now set the dates that the money was transferred and received using the calender function or by typing a date directly into the text boxes using the format shown. Lastly if either the sending or receiving account are charged to transfer the money, enter the appropriate fees in the transfer or receive fees text box. Examples of situations where you may incur fees are on making international transfers where either the sending party pays, the receiving party pays, or the fees are split.
When you have entered the funds transfer information, click on the 'transfer' button.
After clicking on the 'transfer' button the money should now be transferred between the accounts.
Please note the the money will not be visible in the receiving account if the 'end date' is set to a date that is between the date the funds were transferred and received.
