Professor Mark Fenton-O'Creevy
Professor Mark Fenton-O'Creevy has been researching traders decision-making and performance for more than 15 years. He is currently conducting ground breaking research on ways emotion affects the decision-making of professional traders and private investors. This large research programme involves partners in five different countries and is bringing together a wide range of expertise to consider how traders and investors can be supported in improving the quality of their financial decision-making. He will draw on this programme of research and talk about the implications for how we can make better investment decisions.
Mark Fenton-O'Creevy is Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Open University Business School. He embarked on a programme of research on traders and trading while on the faculty of London Business School and has written widely on this topic since. His 2005 book (with Nicholson, Soane and Willman) Traders: Risks, Decisions and Management in Financial Markets (Oxford University Press) is highly regarded by both academics and professional traders.
Mark is currently conducting research on the role of emotions in financial decision-making and is involved in a major study with the BBC looking at the financial capability of the nation.
