How can I edit an existing account

To change the name of a Portfolio Account, the account type, the default currency associated with the account transactions, or your taxable share of a joint account, complete the following steps. In addition this section will explain how Investment Clubs can remove a Portfolio Account from the Unit Valuation System:

Step 1: Click on the 'add/edit' button

To make changes to a Portfolio Account, navigate to the Accounts screen using the drop down navigation menu as illustrated:

When viewing the the Portfolio Accounts page, click on the ‘add/edit’ button as illustrated in the following screen shot:

Edit Portfolio 2 (70).png

This will now place the Portfolio Account screen in to 'edit' mode as illustrated in the next step.

Step 2: Select the Portfolio Account you want to edit

After clicking on the 'add/edit' button as shown above, you will be presented with a Portfolio Account edit screen as illustrated in the following screen shot:

Edit Portfolio 5 (70).png

While in edit mode, you you can add a new Portfolio Account or edit an existing Account. To begin editing the various fields associated with a Portfolio Account, such as name or currency, click on the ‘edit’ button associated with the Account that you would like to edit.

Step 3: Edit the Portfolio Account fields

After you have clicked on the ‘edit’ button associated with a Portfolio Account, you will be able to edit the Portfolio Account name, type, currency. For joint accounts you can also edit your taxable share of the joint account, and if for investment club Portfolio Accounts you can include or exclude the Portfolio Account from the Unit Valuation System (UVS). To change the Portfolio Account name, delete the Portfolio Account name text and replace it with an alternative name. To change the taxable share for joint accounts i.e. the percentage of the gains, losses and income apportioned to you, change the percentage figure in the 'taxable' field e.g. by entering 50, means that you are liable to 50% of the Capital Gains, Losses or Income tax from the joint account. To change the Portfolio Account type and currency use the drop down currency menu as illustrated in the following screen shot.

For investment club Portfolio Accounts, if you do not wish to include the Portfolio Account in the UVS calculations, click on the UVS check box to remove the tick as illustrated in the following example:

Edit ledger 2-5.png

When editing an investment club Portfolio Account, you have to decide if you want to include the Portfolio Account in the Unit Valuation System calculations. Typically all Portfolio Accounts should be included in the Unit Valuation System and Unit Cancellation should be used when adding Portfolio Account transactions that you do not want to impact the Unit Value. In order to support traditional book keeping, you can exclude a Portfolio Account, such as a Petty Cash Portfolio Account, from the Unit Valuation System. By excluding a Portfolio Account from the Unit Valuation System the transactions associated with that Portfolio Account will not impact the Unit Valuation.

The currency associated with a Portfolio Account, determines the currency for all transactions in that Portfolio Account. You can have different Portfolio Accounts associated with different currencies; for example, you may have a 'UK Bank Account' that is denominated in British Pounds and a 'US Broker Account' that is denominated in 'US Dollars'. Please note that if you add a US stock symbol to the investment tab of a British Pounds denominated Portfolio Account, the price of US stock symbol will be represented in UK British Pounds and vice versa for a US denominated Portfolio Account.

When you have made the necessary changes to the Portfolio Account, press the ‘save’ button associated with the Portfolio Account entry that you were editing.

Step 4: Finished editing

After the saved button has been pressed, if you do not wish to make any further changes to the Portfolio Accounts click on the 'done' button as illustrated in the following screen shot:
